When I heard that Paul McCartney was putting on a concert at AT&T Park, a few thoughts crossed my mind. 1. OMG I love listening to the timeless Beatles music, and his newer stuff is pretty great too. How exciting would it be to say I actually made it to a Paul McCartney concert in my lifetime?? 2. I wonder if there will be anyone remotely close to my age present, since he is clearly from the era of the Baby Boomers. You know what, it doesn’t even matter! It will be entertaining rocking out with the silvered hair generation. 3. How can Blue & Gold Fleet get in on the hype?
I immediately purchased tickets, and soon Blue & Gold Fleet was offering direct ferry service from Vallejo and Alameda/Oakland to the concert. This was the perfect solution for those wishing to experience the concert without dealing with the hassles of driving, parking, drinking, etc. And it’s quite a nice ride too!
The concert was spectacular. The $9 Bud Lights, not so much. Fortunately, Sir Paul was all the stimulation we needed to have a good time. Although I personally would have liked to hear a little
more Beatles and a little less Wings, his energy and the chemistry between the band members really added to the performance. The floor seats were great for the people who liked to dance, but if you are someone who would prefer to remain seated a majority of the time, sit higher up. I do not appreciate getting dirty looks for simply enjoying myself. His rendition of Live and Let Die, with the extravagant lighting and fireworks, absolutely blew my mind.
All in all, the fog was a bit thick, but the concert was incredible. Definitely an experience I won’t forget.
