RocketBear recently went out of his comfort zone and took a little trip to visit another popular body of water, Lake Tahoe!
It’s a fairly quick drive from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe, but I would definitely recommend NOT leaving at peak traffic time. Five hours later, after four failed attempts at finding a “cute and unique” restaurant to eat at as opposed to McDonalds and In n’ Out (we even ended up almost entering what looked like a cute restaurant inside a train, but turned out to be a sleezy nightclub)
we pulled into the driveway of our very large and fabulous cabin in North Shore.
The first thing I noticed when we entered our cabin were two life-sized stuffed bears — ROCKETBEAR’S PARENTS. At that moment I realized that maybe I think of this little bear too often and should really get over work and relax…Regardless, the camera came out and RocketBear posed with his family. Then vacation began…
Throughout the course of the trip, we spent most of our time out on the lake, boating, wakeboarding, jet skiing, etc. RocketBear took a ride on an 11-seater Sea Ray we rented. That thing flew across the lake, occasionally slamming us up and down and spraying us with water. One of the kids lost a bag of Cheez-its to the wind. Oops. It was a great time and a bit similar on a smaller scale compared to RocketBoat, but we needed an experienced boater with us to act as captain. With RocketBoat you simply go along for the ride, no experience necessary.
We spent a lot of time at the beach naturally, with the Hyatt Beach and Sand Harbor being our favorites. The water is crystal clear but a bit icy; a perfect way to cool off after lying out in the scorching sun.
RocketBear spent his beach time tanning on the sand, cooling off on the raft and, of course, mingling with the girls.
After much hard playing and delegation, we reached our conclusion: both the San Francisco Bay and Lake Tahoe are beautiful places to visit, with many different options to explore. If you are in the mood for a more relaxing beach and water sport vacation, Lake Tahoe is your place. If you are in search of some boating fun with the City at your fingertips, come to San Francisco!
